He said the race was encouraged by optimistic postings on its social media sites leading up to the race, but registrations clearly fell off in the wake of the violence in Boston.”I think it’s a big contributor and why we can deduce that is we looked at registration numbers leading into and through April 15 when the Boston Marathon happened and then daily and weekly from that point in time to the Bolder Boulder,” Bosley said.Bosley said prior to the Boston bombings, the Bolder Boulder was on target for an increase in registrations over the 51,681 last year. He said another contributing factor was likely an unusual number of late spring snowstorms and bad weather days this year that probably interfered with training.”That was a really interesting month when it feels like it’s still December,” Bosley said.The Bolder Boulder doesn’t have any immediate plans for big changes for next year, but Bosley emphasized that his team is constantly discussing ideas for small tweaks and big ideas.”I think it’s a part of the culture even from the time when my father founded the operation and was involved, and certainly his influence still persists, is the constant pressure to improve the race and look for ways to make the experience better,” Bosley said. “I’m not quite sure what that is right here with 350 some days until next year’s race.”Falcons look to defend Tri Valley League titleLONGMONT Luis Chavez has been down this road before.
